London remains my favourite place in the world to shoot weddings, and despite so many amazing venues all over the City The Asylum Chapel in Peckham has to be the most amazing space to hold your ceremony. Beautiful natural light fills the space and provides a vibrant backdrop for candid shots of you and your guests, a wedding filmmakers dream. I have been lucky enough to work there a few times now, but on this occasion I was fortunate enough to also be heading to the Barbican Conservatory for the reception; another one of London’s stunning spaces that I hadn’t worked at before. When I met Josie & Tim to discuss filming their day, it was clear that their wedding was going to focus on a relaxed vibe in a stunning setting with their friends and family, brought together by a focus on good food and good music – truly a staple for any successful wedding day. They also had a special request that I focus on filming their string quarter’s performance as Josie walked down the aisle in full, who were to be performing music written by Josie’s very talented brother. I really enjoyed the additional setup to my usual filming of a ceremony and the quartet footage came out perfectly giving them something extra special to keep aside from their main film.

After enjoying some fizz and more of the incredible string quartet, Josie & Tim’s guests headed across town on London red buses to the Barbican Conservatory – another marvel of beauty and natural, vibrant light – where they enjoyed more great food and drink and some beautiful speeches before dancing the night away against the backdrop of stunning brutalist architecture that surrounded them. This will go down as one of my most cherished wedding adventurers and it was such an honour to capture the day and to hopefully do it all justice through my film. Thanks to Josie & Tom for having me along and to all of the amazing suppliers I had the pleasure of working with on this one.
